Dear Brothers, Sisters and Siblings:
The 2023 IAM Unity and Growth Conference, “Building Our Future Sector by Sector,” will take place on Sunday, August 20 ending at noon on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel at 1 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101, phone 619-564-3333.
Advanced delegate conference registration is encouraged (see attached) or you may register on site at the hotel on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. or on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The conference will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 9 a.m. and adjourn by noon on Thursday, August 24, 2023. There will be a $100 registration fee per delegate. Please fill out the enclosed delegate form and mail it to headquarters with a check to cover all delegates from your District or Local.
It is our duty to help grow the union, and we ask that you attend the conference to learn how. The 2023 IAM Unity and Growth Conference will train, educate and inspire IAM officers, members, staff, activists and other leaders to organize new members in all sectors and continue to embrace and strengthen the diversity of our union. Morning plenary sessions will feature dynamic speakers and panels. The afternoon breakout sessions include instruction on fresh organizing tactics. There will also be discussions on how Communications, Strategic Resources, legal matters and diversity can help grow our union.
Breakout industry sectors include:
- Aerospace and Service Contract Act
- Automotive
- Manufacturing and Shipbuilding
- Wood, Pulp and Paper, and Natural Resources
- Public Sector, Healthcare and Non-Traditional Industries
- Transportation
Delegates will also convene in individual industrial sector meetings to discuss, review, and produce a proactive, strategic organizing plan. Each sector will give a report to the full conference.

The group name is “2023 IAM Unity and Growth Conference” and the special room rate is $296 plus tax per night. Check in is 4 p.m., and check out is 11 a.m. Please make your reservation before the cut-off date of July 11, 2023.
Carefully review the sectors to be covered. All Lodges should send delegates who are knowledgeable within their respective industries. Delegates should also be familiar with the internal affairs of their lodge. Where possible, business representatives, members of negotiating and organizing committees, as well as lodge officers are especially encouraged to participate.
In order to ensure adequate meeting space and materials for each of the sector meetings, please submit the enclosed delegate registration form no later than July 11, 2023 along with the delegate fee of $100 per delegate to:

The purpose of the IAM Unity and Growth Conference is to foster and promote the widest possible dissemination of timely and useful organizing information to our members. We want to encourage the exchange of dialog and ideas between those members employed in the various sectors and to formulate sector-organizing strategies.
There can be no doubt that knowledge, understanding, and communication are the keys to provide the best representation for IAM members.
