Montréal, QC – Members of IAM Local Lodge 712 have ratified their first collective agreement with Tékalia Aéronautik.
“Having union recognition and a first collective agreement is in itself a very important step forward in a newly-unionized workplace,” explain IAM District Lodge 11 Business Representative Luc Morasse. “With this contract, the workers have built a solid foundation on which to build in the future.”
Along with wage increases the two-year agreement also provides:
- Grievance and arbitration processes
- Seniority provisions
- Recall process following layoffs
- Work classifications
- Improved vacation periods
- Bereavement leave
“In short, we can say that this is an excellent first agreement,” said IAM District Lodge 11 Directing Business Representative Pierre Grenier. “The bargaining committee did a remarkable job. They’re more than satisfied with the progress they have achieved for all 85 workers at Tékalia Aéronautik.” Tékalia Aéronautik provides surface treatment and finishes for the aeronautical industry.
