Double Victory - Innotech Aviation workers join forces with IAM District 11, ensuring a stronger future in the Aerospace Industry

12 September, 2023 – Two groups of dedicated workers have chosen to unite under the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), District 11, recognising the benefits of joining a larger organization with extensive aerospace industry experience.

Both groups, working for the same employer under different businesses, were previously members of independent unions before joining the IAM.

Innotech Aviation:
Comprising 70 members, this group specializes in the maintenance of private jets and operates a state-of-the-art paint shop. The campaign for representation spanned two months, during which the shop committee showed their trust and support for IAM District 11.

Subsequently, all members rallied behind IAM after a compelling presentation at a general assembly. These workers are now proudly affiliated with Local 712. Eric Gagné and Ron Trottier were the driving forces behind this successful organization effort.

Innotech Aviation Services:
Providing essential services for private jets, this branch consists of 15 dedicated members. Initially members of another union, the decision to join IAM District 11 stemmed from witnessing the positive outcomes of the campaign with the other group. Their campaign was efficiently executed within a two-week timeframe.

Similar to their counterparts, members of Innotech Aviation Services are now part of Local 712. Eric Gagné and Ron Trottier spearheaded this initiative. In a joint statement, the organizers, Eric Gagné and Ron Trottier, expressed their thoughts on this unionization effort:

“Both groups were already organized, but they were in need of change and the support of a larger organization with profound experience in the aerospace industry. IAM District 11 made an impressive first impression, and it was evident that we were the right organisation to help them achieve their goals. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of both groups for placing their trust in us and demonstrating their solidarity. Rest assured, we will work tirelessly to uphold their interests and aspirations.”

The Innotech Aviation workers’ decision to join IAM District 11 marks a significant milestone for both the workers and the union, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of all members. Together, they look forward to a prosperous future in the aerospace industry.
