Montreal, QC – Air Transat’s 250 passenger agents, now part of the IAM, stand united with Air Transat’s mechanics and crew schedulers, who are already members of the IAM.
Recurring problems with work schedules and training motivated the workers to opt for unionisation. Support for the IAM was at more than 90%!
“Thanks to our team and teamwork, we fully understood the members’ needs and showed them we have what it takes to defend their gains and advance their working conditions. Members are excited to participate in preparing their first collective agreement,” says Michel Richer, Grand Lodge Representative and IAM Quebec Coordinator.
The 250 Air Transat passenger agents were supported in their efforts by IAM organizing advisors Jean-Marc Brunet and Nick Sifakis and IAMAW District 140 General Chairperson Peter Tsoukalas. The assistance of the IAM Canadian office and its General Vice-President, David Chartrand, is also noteworthy.

IAM Canada represents the largest number of workers at airports across Canada.
