IAM Union representatives were proud to attend IAM Cares’s 35th anniversary event in Montreal; a celebration highlighting the organization’s lasting impact on local communities and its dedication to inclusion and accessibility in the workplace.
For 35 years, IAM Cares has been a driving force in helping individuals with sensory and physical disabilities find their way back into the workforce. Through personalized guidance, professional development programs, and strong partnerships with employers, IAM Cares has opened doors for hundreds of job seekers every year, empowering them to achieve professional independence and personal fulfillment.
The anniversary event brought together participants, partners, supporters, and patrons, including IAM Union, to celebrate the organization’s achievements and continued mission.
The evening began with a welcoming speech from Christian Bertrand, President of IAM Local 712, who spoke about the importance of solidarity, equal opportunity, and the value of partnerships that help make workplaces more inclusive.
Following that, Christina Cobein, Executive Director of IAM Cares, took the stage to thank everyone who has contributed to the organization’s success, from staff members and participants to community partners and long-time supporters. Her message highlighted the shared dedication that has fueled IAM Cares’s mission for more than three decades.
Mélissa Tadmor, Team Leader at IAM Cares, then offered an overview of the organization’s evolution and its growing impact throughout the years.
Audrey Daigneault, Integration and Employment Retention Agent, presented some of IAM Care’s upcoming projects and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving workplace accessibility and building stronger connections with employers across Montreal. She also shared impressive statistics on the number of people IAM Cares has helped reintegrate into the workforce.
The event concluded with testimonials from Céline Turner, a former Executive Assistant and long-time supporter, who reflected on her experience and the positive influence IAM Cares has had in the community. This was followed by a touching story from Maria-Graciella of the individuals the organization has supported.
The 35th anniversary celebration was a moment to honour the past but also to look toward the future with optimism and commitment. IAM Cares’s mission continues to inspire, breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has access to meaningful employment opportunities.
IAM Union is proud to stand alongside IAM Cares as a patron and partner in this journey toward inclusion, equity, and dignity at work.
