Toronto, On – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 235 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with Kraft Foods.
The agreement provides a wage increase of 3.1 per cent including benefits in each year of the agreement. “The biggest gain in this agreement comes in the short term disability benefit,” explained IAMAW District Lodge 78 Directing Business Representative Gary Hynes. “Weekly Indemnity was calculated at 66 and two thirds per cent to a maximum of your Employment Insurance or about $393.00 per week. That has been changed to 60 per cent of your earnings or in excess of $700.00 per week. Our members were very pleased with this increase.”
The 68 members consist of electricians and maintenance staff who work at the Christie’s Cookie plant in west end Toronto.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
