Brampton, ON – Housekeeping staff at the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriot in Brampton, members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1295, have ratified their first collective agreement.
The agreement provides wage increases of 40 cents per hour in each of the year agreement. Other agreement highlights include :
• Hours of work awarded by seniority
• Improved vacation benefits
• Two additional holidays
• Benefits package improved
The 12 members were organized in October 2010. The IAMAW represents workers at six hotels in Ontario. Organizer, Brother Roy Bhansingh, stated the members were over whelming in favour of the Collective Agreement.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
