Prince George, BC – Members of IAM Local Lodge 692 have ratified a new collective agreement with AJ Forsyth, a division of Russel Metals.
“This agreement was rejected on the first vote,” explained IAM District Lodge 250 Business Representative Dale Gentile. “However after two days of hard bargaining, the second offer was ratified by a margin of 85 percent.”
The four-year agreement provides wages increases of 2 per cent in the first and second year and 2.5 per cent in the third and fourth year respectively. Other agreement highlights include :
• New pension option
• Voluntary Overtime for Senior Employees
• Short Term Disability improved to a maximum of $750.00
• Long Term Disability increased to a maximum of $10,000.00/month
• Direct Pay Drug Card plus percentage paid increased to 85 per cent
• New Vision Care for the entire family-$150.00 per family member plus eye exams of $75.00 each
• Orthopedic shoes increased to 1 pair from a maximum $150.00 reimbursement
• New harassment language
• Deletion of a Tuesday to Saturday shift
The 25 members consist of Production Machine Operators, Specialists, Helpers, Shear Operators and Labourers. They manufacture and shape various sizes of steel.
