IAM members in Canada have a new way to stay in touch with their union, through the new, interactive edition of the IAM Journal, now available via computer, smartphone or tablet.
The new Journal is available to anyone with an internet connection, works on any brand of smartphone or tablet, and requires no app download through the online stores of the various brands.
Members can also sign up to get their issue of the journal in their email in box. Members will be able to link directly to articles, videos and submissions directly from their email programs.
A print edition will still be published in downloadable format.
The Journal will cover major issues and events from a union viewpoint. But it’s also about IAM members as people. Members will be able to send their comments to the editor, and submit or suggest stories they’d like to see covered.
“The IAM Journal has always been about communicating with our members,” said Canadian General Vice-President Dave Ritchie. “We’re making a commitment to reach as many members as we can with information that’s relevant to us as Machinists, the industries we work in and the communities in which we live. And it will be available in a format that the greatest number of members can easily use.”
In the inaugural issue of the new format, members can read about amazing trends in aircraft-maintenance technology, the outlook for unions, what Machinists win in contract negotiations and who won this year’s IAM Scholarships.
You can get the latest issue of the IAM Journal by clicking the IAM Journal graphic on the home page of this site, or by visiting journalmedia.ca on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
