Kanata, On – Members of IAM Local Lodge 412 have ratified at a new 5-year collective agreement with Asten Johnson Incorporated.
Although the ratification obtain an 88 per cent acceptance, the deal was struck just hours before a strike deadline. “This was a very difficult round of bargaining and the negotiation committee deserves tremendous credit for getting this deal,” said IAM Grand Lodge Representative Gary Hynes.
The agreement provides wage increases of 2 per cent in each year and a .6 per cent increase in pension plan contributions over the five year period. Other agreement highlights include :
- Increased vision care benefits
- Increased safety boot allowance
- Improved contract language
- The ability to compare benefit package coverage for better rates
The 99 members manufacture coated fabrics for the roofing and building industry.
