St. Thomas, ON – GKN Sinter Metals has ratified a new collective agreement with members of IAM Local Lodge 1975.
The new three-year agreement provides wage increases of 1 per cent in the first year, 2 per cent in the second year and 3 per cent in the third year. Other agreement highlights include:
- Improved benefits
- Improved pension contributions
- Improved job posting language
“This was a tough round of bargaining but the committee had a clear mandate from the membership of what was needed to secure an agreement,” explained IAM District Lodge 78 Directing Business Representative Derek Ferguson. “I’m proud to say they remained firm throughout s trying process.”
The 121 members produce metal powder precision components such as sinter metal components, self-lubricating bearings, powder metal injection moldings, powdered forged components and aluminum sinter metal components for the automotive industry.
