Airport Screeners Ratify New Agreement with Garda

Toronto, On – Airport Pre-Board Screening Officers at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, members of IAM Local Lodge 2921, have ratified a new collective agreement with Garda World Security Corporation. 
 
The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 2 per cent in the first year plus an $800 bonus, 2.25 per cent in the second year and 2.5 per cent in the third year. Other agreement highlights include :
 
Pension improvements of 10 cents per hour in each year – a 40 per cent increase in employer contributions
Contract language improvements
Improved scheduling
Improvements to vacation allocations
 
 
“This agreement provides significant improvements for our members, especially the improved scheduling of operational breaks and vacation allocations,” said IAM District Lodge 140 General Chairperson Barry Barnett. 
The 1800 members provide airport security screening at Pearson International Airport. The IAM also represents Pre Board Screening Officers at Vancouver International airport and is the largest airport Pre-Board Screening Officers union in Canada.
