IAM members at Bellwood Health Service have successfully ratified a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that brings significant improvements to their workplace. Negotiations were led by Sharon Vong and Rachael Edge from the Negotiating Committee, with support from IAM District 78 Business Representative Ben Osakue.
The agreement delivers higher wages and increased shift premiums, aligning full-time hours with an eight-hour workday that includes paid breaks. Members will also benefit from expanded leave options, bereavement leave, and three new paid holidays, as well as monthly sick leave accrual and clearer, more consistent overtime rules.
In addition to financial and scheduling improvements, the agreement strengthens union representation, adding a third steward, ensuring dedicated time for negotiations, and establishing regular Labour-Management meetings.
The new CBA demonstrates the IAM’s ongoing commitment to promoting fairness and respect in the workplace, while providing tangible benefits that improve both the work environment and daily lives of its members.
