Chalk River Machinists Sign New Deal with A.E.C.L.

Chalk River, ON – The 70 members of IAM Local Lodge 1522 and the membership affiliated to the Atomic Energy Allied Council (CR) employed at the Chalk River Research facility have signed a new three-year collective agreement with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL).
The new agreement provides for wage increases of 1.75 per cent in each year. Other agreement highlights include :
• New maternity/paternity wage compensation
• Increased Meal Allowance
• Increased Boot Allowance
• Increased Shift Compensation
• Improved Apprenticeship Language
• Improved Living Away Allowance
• Shift Turnover for Security Officers
The IAM members affiliated with the Council consist of millwrights, machinists and other trades and non-trades. The Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories located 183 kilometers northwest of Ottawa, provide nuclear research to numerous clients worldwide and produces Molybdinum 99 for medical diagnostics.
