Montréal, QC – Employees of Goodrich UTC Canada have joined the IAM.
“Proximity to IAM members on the job and the engagement of the membership were key assets to this organizing campaign,” explained IAM District Lodge 11 Organizer Philippe Lapointe. The 10 new members are subcontractors on the Bombardier C Series and work side by side with IAM Local Lodge 712 members.
“These workers decided to put an end to disrespect in the workplace,” said Lapointe. “They were tired of the constant changes in the employer’s attitude, the arbitrary discipline and the mistakes on their pay checks. Our local shop stewards contacted the Goodrich employees to discuss the benefits of joining a union and bond with IAM members. I’m happy to say the strategy has finally paid off.”
The ten newest members of IAM Local Lodge 712 are integrators for the Pratt and Whitney engines on the new Bombardier C Series.
