This past week, the 43rd Annual William W. Winpisinger Charity Banquet took place, uniting supporters in celebration of the transformative role service dogs play in the lives of their handlers.

Hosted by Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), the event honored the freedom and companionship that these remarkable dogs provide. It was also a powerful reminder of the importance of continued support for GDA | TLC’s mission of pairing individuals with life-enhancing service dogs.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of IAMAW General Vice President of Canada, David Chartrand, who was honored as the Gift of Sight Honoree. IAM International President Brian Bryant presented the award in a moving ceremony, reflecting on David’s remarkable career spanning over 30 years.

David Chartrand, in turn, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the community, acknowledging the collective efforts that made such achievements possible.

During his speech, he took a moment to recognize Caroline Ramos and Kathy Carvalho for their extraordinary commitment and exceptional support to GDA | TLC’s fundraising efforts, further underscoring the evening’s theme of collaboration and community spirit.

In addition, Chartrand honored several other key players who have gone above and beyond over the years, recognizing their tireless contributions to the cause. Their dedication and hard work have been instrumental in the continued success of GDA | TLC, and their efforts were celebrated as a vital part of the evening’s achievements.
