Montréal, QC – The IAM has started off the New Year on the right note with yet another organizing victory at Airport Terminal Services – ATS.
“We are definitely carrying on with the momentum from last year when our organizing efforts grew the membership by ten per cent,” explained IAM Canadian General Vice President Stan Pickthall. “I congratulate our IAM Transportation District Lodge 140 organizers for bringing 100 ATS workers into our family.”
“These workers wanted respect on the job, protection, better wages and someone to speak on their behalf with the employer,” said IAM Grand Lodge Representative Michel Richer. “Nick Sifakis, organizer for IAM Local Lodge 1751 worked tirelessly on this campaign and he welcomes these workers into the lodge.”
The 100 new members consist of ATS ramp agents, tow agents, ramp leads, tow crew chiefs and mechanics at Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport. The IAM also represents ATS workers in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
The IAM is largest union in Canada’s air transport sector.
