Burnaby, BC – Machinists members employed by Westminster Auto Lease are now part of the IAM Pension Plan after ratifying a new collective agreement.
“Given that the medium-light truck business in this province is down by 70 percent, our members are very happy knowing their future is secure by joining the IAM Pension Plan, “explained IAMAW District 250 Business Representative Walter Gerlach.
The three-year agreement provides for wage increase of 0 per cent in the first year and 1 per cent in each of the next two years respectively. Other agreement highlights include :
• Inclusion in the IAM Pension Plan
• Weekly Indemnity benefits increased from $550 to $750 per week
• Improved eye glass benefits
• Prescription Medical Card provided by employer
• Employer will cover its share of sick benefits for up to six months for employees off on long tern illness.
• Tool allowance increased up to $500
• Web-based Training will now be paid by employer

The 12 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1857 consist of Commercial Transport Technicians who repair and service Hino Trucks.
The IAMAW represents workers at several auto dealerships on the lower mainland of British Columbia and Vancouver Island.
