St. Thomas, ON – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1975 made significant monetary and contract language gains in their new four-year collective agreements with GKN Sinter Metals Incorporated.
The IAMAW represents all hourly employees under one agreement and the office and tech under another agreement.
“The bargaining team produced significant contract language changes and a good wage package for the membership,” said IAM District Lodge 78 Business Representative Ralph Martin.
The four –year agreements provide wage increases of 2.25 per cent in the first year, 3 per cent in the second and third years and 4 per cent in the fourth year. Other agreement highlights include :
· Retirement allowance was increased from $35.00 per year of service to $150.00 per year of service
· Increased safety boot allowance
· Dispensing fee cap on prescription drugs increased
· 5% Co-Pay on benefits eliminated
· Major Medical increased from $300.00 per family member to $500.00 for each item per family member
· Bereavement for immediate family increased from 3 days to 5 days
The 135 members manufacture powdered metal into automotive parts for the North American auto industry.
