Machinists Ratify New Deal with Alliance-Engineering!

Victoria, BC – Machinist members employed by Alliance Engineering have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.
The agreement provides wage increases of 2 per cent in each year. Wages in the first year will range from a probationary rate for Journeymen of $28.63 per hour to $30.92 per hour for Tool and Die makers. By May 1, 2013, the rates will rise to $29.79 per hour and $32.17 per hour in their respective categories.
The agreement also provides Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) protection in the third year of up to 3 per cent for wages based on the CPI yearly inflation rate in Victoria for March 2013. Employer retirement savings contributions will increase by 1 per cent in the first year and .5 per cent in the second year.
The 15 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 456 employed in the shop at Alliance consist of Machinists, Fabricators, Welders, Specialists, and Helpers. They manufacture specialized high quality structured steel products for major construction projects on Vancouver Island.
