Richmond, BC – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1857 employed by Richmond Chrysler are now part of the IAM pension plan thanks to their newly ratified collective agreement.
“This is my second group this year to join the IAM Pension Plan,” said IAMAW District Lodge 250 Business Representative Walter Gerlach. “There’s a growing sentiment amongst our members that security of their future is vitally important and the best way to obtain that security is through our IAM Pension Plan.”
The three-year agreement calls for wage increase of 0 per cent in the first year and 2 per cent in the second and third year respectively. Other agreement highlights include :
• Inclusion in the IAM Pension Plan
• Union leave language extended
• Arbitrators now have the ability to award interest on claims
• Minimum rate for body shop employees now $28.50 per hour
The 34 members consist of automotive technicians, service writers, parts and body shop personnel.
The IAMAW represents workers at several auto dealerships on the lower mainland of British Columbia and Vancouver Island.
