Vancouver, BC – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 16 have ratified their second collective agreement with Securiguard at Vancouver International Airport.
“The Negotiations Committee did a tremendous job”, said IAMAW District Lodge 140 General Chairperson, Tania Canniff. “They defended the issues of critical importance to the membership and in the end delivered a tentative agreement that the membership endorsed by 100 per cent.”
The 30-month agreement, effective January 1, 2011, provides for a wage increase of 2.5% on June 30, 2011 and a further increase of 2% on June 30, 2012. Other agreement highlights include :

• Benefit continuance through periods of layoff
• Paid time for shift preparation/cleanup
• Improved bereavement provision
• The introduction of double time overtime rates
• Guarantees on training rates
• Paid parking.
The 30 members provide airfield security and safety on behalf of the Vancouver Airport Authority to third party contractors, engaged in capital projects in security-restricted areas, including airfield, aircraft maneuvering areas and live taxiways.
The IAMAW is the largest union in the Canadian air transport sector.
