The Quebec Machinists Council (CMQ) conference was held on May 19 and 20 in Sherbrooke, QC. The activities of the CMQ never stopped during the pandemic and it was under the theme of “Still Alive” that the participants were able to think about and exchange views on various subjects, including how the CMQ could help the local lodge during labour conflicts. We also took advantage of this meeting to ask ourselves about the effectiveness of our communications. The members present were very active during these working sessions and gave a clear mandate for the challenges and issues for the coming years.
We also took the opportunity to thank Brother Denis Boudreau for his many years of dedication within his local and as Recording Secretary for the Quebec Machinists Council. We also highlighted the departure of Sister Louise Michaud for a well-deserved retirement. We wish them a very long and happy retirement.
Brother Dave Chartrand, IAM Canadian General Vice-President swore in the new Executive Board of the CMQ.
