Mississauga, On – Employees at Sage Parts Canada are the newest members of IAM Local Lodge 2413.
“We had assistance from a lot of people like Mark Pozzobon of IAM Local Lodge 2323 in organizing this group,” explained IAM Special Representative and Organizer Scott Jackson. “The Sage office at Pearson International Airport is right next door to the Air Canada Ground Support Equipment facility and the IAM is the largest union at Air Canada. People began to discuss representation over coffee and one thing led to another, cards were signed, a certification application was filed and here we are.”
The 12 new members include parts personnel, purchasers, shippers, receivers, a driver and administrative staff.
Sage Parts is a world leader in replacement parts for aviation ground support equipment. Their product line includes AC unit parts, aircraft connections, automotive parts, belt loader parts, cart , trailer and dolly parts, hooks hitches and tow bars, deicer components, engines, lavatory and potable water, tractor parts and wheels and tires.
The IAM is the largest union at Toronto’s Pearson Airport.
