Timken Machinists Accept Three-year Deal!

For Immediate Release
Prince George, BC – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 692 have ratified a new three-year collective agreement with Timken Company, formerly Q.M. Bearings & Power Transmissions.
The new agreement provides wage increases of 1.25 per cent in the first year, 1.5 per cent in the second year and 2 per cent in the third year. “Even when the economy is down, Machinists can still negotiate wage increases,” said IAMAW District Lodge 250 Business Representative Al Cyr. “Individual employers may have their ups and downs but the need for skilled trades still creates a premium in the market.”
Other agreement highlights include :
• Shift premiums increased to $1 per hour
• Boot allowance increased to $175.00
• Paramedical expenses increased to $750.00
• Prescription eyewear coverage increased to $230 per every two years
• Maximum Dental coverage increased to $1,750.00 per year
The 14 members manufacture and distribute spherical roller bearing steel-housed units and elastomeric and steel couplings used in sawmill and logging operations.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
