London, ON – It took only two days to negotiate a new agreement but the Machinists members at the Days Inn are happy with the result because they ratified the new deal by a 100 per cent margin.
“It took the entire first day to wrap up the monetary issues and the second day produced language improvements and that was it,” explained IAMAW District Lodge 78 Business Representative Ralph Martin. “I can’t say enough about the hard work of the negotiating committee of Christine De Alavedas and fellow Business Representative Derek Ferguson.
The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 2.5 per cent in the first year, 2.5 per cent in the second year and 3.5 per cent in the third year. Other agreement highlights include :
• Increases to IAM pension plan
• Lead Hand premium improvements
• Introduction of sick days
• Benefit Improvements
• Contract language improvements
