CAE-Machinists ink new contract!

Moose Jaw, SASK – The members of IAM Local Lodge 32 have ratified a multi-year agreement with CAE in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Cold Lake, Alberta.

The multi-year deal, ratified by a margin of 68 per cent, provides wage increases totaling 13 per cent over the life of the agreement including pay retro-active to last year. Other agreement highlights include;

  • Per diems paid for deployments instead of out-of-pocket expenses
  • An $850 deployment bonus
  • Benefits improvements
  • Members will now receive five sick days per year and unused days will be paid out
  • Conversion of previous earned sick days at a 5/1 ratio that will be paid out
  • Guaranteed company paid time for the shop committee chairman
  • Transfer to Short Term Disability after two days instead of three that pays 90 per cent for up to 60 days then drops down to 70 per cent for the remaining 14 weeks

The 138 members consist of aircraft mechanics who maintain, repair and overhaul the CT-155 BAE Hawk and the CT-156 Beechcraft Harvard military trainers utilized in the NATO Flight Training program with 15 Wing RCAF based in Moose Jaw and 4 Wing RCAF based in Cold Lake. CAE provides basic, advanced and lead-in fighter training as part of the comprehensive military pilot training program.
