Toronto, On – Members of the Canadian Union of Labour Representatives, employed by the Canadian Labour Congress, are the newest members of the IAM.
“We are delighted that the 46 Canadian Labour Congress Staff Representatives have decided to join a progressive international union, the IAM,” said IAM Canadian General Vice President Stan Pickthall. “The IAM prides itself on being a grassroots organization that listens to its members and works with them on issues at all levels of our movement.”
As an organization, the IAM is active on many levels:
- Representation of our members, both at the bargaining table and in the workplace.
- Community Service and Political Action
- Organizing the unorganized workers across Canada
- Strong activists and participants within Canada’s Labour movement at the CLC, Federation, and Labour Council levels.
Over the past two years, the IAM has emerged as the Union of choice for Labour Activists across Canada who are seeking representation, including: UFCW National Reps, NSGEU Provincial Reps, Elementary Teachers of Toronto office staff, and IBEW Local 1687.
