Montreal, QC – IAM Canadian General Vice President Stan Pickthall is a busy man these days — crossing the country to meet with members, hearing their concerns, and getting a better feel for the pulse of the union. This week it began in Montreal, with site visits to Air Canada, AJ Walters and Lockheed Martin.
“It’s important to visit with as many groups as possible,” said Pickthall. “I can’t emphasize enough the importance of face-to-face encounters with our members: this way they get the opportunity to put a face to the name, to share their concerns. I’m happy to say our members are not shy about their union and how it works for them and, in some ways, how we can improve. It’s one thing to read it on paper, but it’s better to hear it first-hand. These visits provide that opportunity.”
Pickthall was accompanied by IAM Quebec Coordinator David Chartrand, IAM Canadian Research Director Aurelie Sarrabezolles, IAM Special Representative Michel Richer and IAM District Lodge 140 General Chairperson George Kuehnl. The next site visits will take place this month in Calgary and Edmonton.
