Vancouver, BC – The latest face-to-face site visit with IAM members in District 250 by Canadian GVP Stan Pickthall was an outstanding success. “This is something I strongly believe in,” said Pickthall. “I did this when I was the DBR for District 250 and I will continue to do so on a national basis as Canadian General Vice President.” The week-long visit to the lower mainland of BC followed a similar event earlier this year with members of IAM District 140 at Air Canada in Toronto.
Site visits included Avcorp Industries, Air Canada Cargo, three plants at MTU, Cullen Diesel and WeighTronix.
Pickthall, accompanied by Canadian Chief of Staff Gord Falconer and Political Action Special Representative Lou Pagrach also took part in the monthly meetings of IAM Local Lodges 11 and 16, the Executive Board of District Lodge 250 and the DL 250 delegates meeting as well as a general meeting with all British Columbia Business Representatives and General Chair Persons.
“This is a great way to meet the members and to get their views both good and bad on issues that are important to them,” explained Pickthall. “We want the Canadian office to be more visible and accessible, to be more than just be a name they read about in a news release or catch a glimpse of in a video clip. It’s all about service and that’s something we pride ourselves on.” The next site visits will take place later this month in Montreal, Calgary and Edmonton.
