Falconer Appointed Grand Lodge Representative
Thursday June 6, 2013

For Immediate Release

Toronto, ON – Dave Ritchie, Canadian General Vice President of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has announced the appointment of Gord Falconer, to the position of Grand Lodge Representative. His primary responsibility will be to engage the membership, district and local lodges and the staff to become more actively involved in the issues that affect working people in Canada.

“The labour movement is under attack,” explained Falconer. “When people say that unions have outlived their usefulness, the IAM takes that as a challenge. We’ve got to engage our members and their families on the importance of this issue. They have to be aware that the protection given to the labour movement by laws fought for and won by previous generations of working Canadians, are now under attack. The challenge for the union is to become more pro-active for all Canadians.”

Falconer will also continue his duties concerning apprenticeship programmes, job planning and skills training. He has been the Canadian Education Representative for the IAM since 2002.
