Stratford, ON – Members working at the Cedarcroft Place Retirement Residence in Stratford, ON won a few key victories as a result of an award by the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act (HLDAA).
The award provided general wage increases each year of the agreement, as well as wage adjustments for all classifications. The award also included increases to vision and dental care.
“The IAM, along with our members working for Cedarcroft, remained strong in fighting for improvements in compensation and healthcare. We were able to achieve improvements that will make a difference in the lives of our members and they deserve those improvements,” said Kim Valliere, IAM Canada Special Representative.
The Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act dictates that disputes over collective agreements in Ontario hospitals and nursing homes must be resolved by compulsory arbitration.
Members working at Cedarcroft consist of Registered Professional Nurses, UCP’S, Dietary Aides, Receptionist and Housekeeping staff. The IAM also represents retirement home workers in Toronto, Bowmanville, North Bay and Ottawa.
