Toronto, ON – IAM Local Lodge 1922 members working for the Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT) ratified a new 3-year contract this week, bringing important improvements.
The agreement brings a wage increase each year of the agreement, a new annual Health and Wellness allowance, addition of travel insurance to healthcare plan, increase in professional development allowance, incremental increases to paid holidays each year of the agreement, coverage for medical notes, and annual increases to the IAM pension plan.
“I would like to say a Special “Thank you” to Chief Steward Karen Santer for her dedication in representing her fellow members during the bargaining process,” said District 78 Business Representative Vivianne Simon. “Our IAM members let us know they are very pleased with the outcome of this round of bargaining.”
“We know IAM members directly feel the impacts of the increased cost of living, and this was the driving force behind what we were able to achieve in this agreement”, said IAM Canada Special Representative, Kim Valliere.
IAM represents office staff employed the Elementary Teachers of Toronto, as well as many other staff working for unions.
The IAM has become the new home for several groups of business representatives and other staff from unions across Canada – United Food and Commercial Workers, Canadian Labour Congress, Nova Scotia Government Employees, and the IBEW in Sudbury.
