St. Thomas, ON – IAM Local Lodge 1975 members working at GKN Sinter Metals in St. Thomas Ontario ratified a new 3-year collective agreement.
In recognition of the phase 3 restrictions, the group ratified the agreement outdoors where they could vote on the contract as one group while maintaining physical distancing.
The improvements to the agreement include wage increases, increased vacation entitlement, automatic wage progression, benefits improvements, including the introduction of drug benefits cards, and improvements to bereavement leave.
“Members are happy with the agreement they’ve ratified,” said Eric Johnston, IAM District 78 Business Representative. “Along with the improvements on many fronts, the members are also getting the drug benefits card, which will make things a lot easier when filling prescriptions.”
The IAMAW represents approximately 125 salaried and hourly members who produce metal powder precision components such as sinter metal components, self-lubricating bearings, powder metal injection moldings, powdered forged components and aluminum sinter metal components for the automotive industry.
