Cambridge, ON – Members of IAM Local Lodge 103 have ratified a new collective agreement with Dana Canada.

“We tried to make improvements for our members while keeping an eye on the automotive marketplace,” explained IAM District 78 Directing Business Representative Derek Ferguson. “The increases given to our millwrights is a case in point. The rates were not competitive with others in this industry and the employer realized it would have to compensate these skilled trades or lose them to the competition.”

The four-year agreement provides lump sum payments of $1,500.00 in the first and third year and a 2.5 per cent wage increase in two and four. Other agreement highlights include:

  • Significant hourly wage increase for millwrights over the life of the agreement
  • Pension increases on May 1, 2018, May 1, 2020 and May 1, 2021
  • Increased safety shoe allowance
  • Improved contract language
  • Improved vision care
  • Improved vacation entitlement

“IAM Local 103 negotiation committee members at Dana Canada, Cyril Burke, Rose Hunt, and Rick Moriarity fought hard during the recent round of bargaining,” said Ferguson. “Their commitment was recognized when the 42 members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the new agreement.”

The members manufacture heat exchangers for battery cooling systems for electric and hybrid cars.
