Calgary, AB – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1722 have ratified a new collective agreement with Cummins Western Canada (Calgary) Ltd.
“It was a long and drawn out set of negotiations but with the help of a mediator we were able to avert a strike and settle with a relatively good contract,” explained IAM District Lodge 14 Business Representative Dan Uchacz.
The new three-year agreement provides wage increases of 2.75 per cent in the first year, 3 per cent in the second year and 3.25 per cent in the third. Some of the other agreement highlights include :
· An improved pension plan. The plan now earns 4% (from each employee and employer) of all earning except WCB and Disability instead of $1.55 on base hours worked.
· Voluntary over time language
· Improved Seniority language
· Improved Union language through-out the body of the agreement
· Improved Vision care.
· Improved apprenticeship language
· Grievance Response timeframes
· The inclusion of the maintenance person into the membership
· Retro pay for all hours worked beyond the end of the expired contract to the date of ratification.
The 40 plus members consist of parts and warehouse personnel and heavy duty technicians.
Cummins Western Canada (Calgary) sells, rents and services all sizes of Cummins engines and power generating plants for a variety of applications.
