Machinists Unanimous with Vancouver Honda Deal!

Vancouver, BC – “In all of my years as a union representative, this makes the first time the membership have ratified a tentative agreement by 100 per cent,” exclaimed a surprised Andrew Tricker. The IAM District Lodge 250 Business Representative was referring to the recent ratification by members of IAM Local Lodge 1857 of a new collective agreement with Vancouver Honda Inc.
 
The five-year agreement provides a first year wage increase of 3 per cent retroactive to August 1, 2013 and wage increases of 2 per cent in each of the remaining four years. Other agreement highlights include :
Flat rate for mechanics has been abolished
Tool allowance has been doubled.
Increased safety boot allowance
Increased clothing allowance
Improved Grievance/Discipline language
 
 
The 18 members consist of mechanics, service writers and parts personnel. The IAM represents workers at more than 25 automotive dealerships on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland of British Columbia.
