A new two-year collective agreement has been successfully reached for IAM Union members at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, delivering meaningful improvements in wages, benefits, and working conditions.
The agreement includes a 3.5% wage increase for all classifications in each year of the contract. In addition, Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) will receive a $1.00 special adjustment annually. These increases are retroactive to the agreement’s expiry date of November 1, 2024.
Registered Nurses (RNs) will benefit from a significant special adjustment catch-up of 8.5%, retroactive to November 1, 2024, followed by an additional 3% increase in the second year of the agreement.
Further gains include a 10-cent premium increase for documentation nurses, as well as a 10-cent increase in weekend premiums.
The agreement also enhances benefits, with improvements to both vision and dental coverage. Members will see increased bereavement leave, along with the addition of an extra float day for full-time employees.
Importantly, new language has been introduced to ensure the employer makes appropriate arrangements for members to complete mandatory training away from the floor, supporting both professional development and quality of care.
This agreement reflects a strong commitment to improving working conditions and recognizing the valuable contributions of healthcare workers at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre.
