Sault Ste Marie, ON – In an important step, the 15 detailers and valets at Northside Toyota have successfully ratified their inaugural contract after voting to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) late last year.
The agreement represents a significant step forward for the Northside Toyota workforce, providing them with improved working conditions and remuneration.
Motivated by the annual wage increases and enhanced benefits experienced by their unionized counterparts within the dealership, the Northside Toyota detailers and valets sought to secure similar advantages for themselves. The ratified agreement includes provisions for annual wage increases, extended vacation time, a safety boot allowance, and enrollment in the IAM pension plan.
“While they didn’t get everything they wanted, the contract provides the members with a solid agreement with better working conditions and remuneration,” said IAM Canada Representative Scott Jackson. He commended Negotiations Committee member Nick Harry for his outstanding focus on the crucial issues during the negotiation process.
