North Bay, ON – Earlier this year, workers at Seymour Windows and Doors Limited decided to join the IAMAW and their first collective agreement has validated that choice.
“We delivered their first benefits plan in the first contract,” explained IAMAW Grand Lodge Representative Colin Cherry. “This is a good starting point and the membership is very happy.”
The four-year agreement provides for a wage increase of a $500.00 lump sum payment in the first year, and wage increases of 3.1 per cent in year two, 2.7 per cent in year three and 3.3 per cent in year four. Other agreement high lights include :
•Establishment of a new benefit plan including a drug plan, medical coverage, extended medical coverage, life insurance and Long Term Disability.
•Enhanced vision care coverage
•Increased safety shoe allowance
The 52 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2412 ratified the new agreement by a margin of 88 per cent.
The members manufacture windows and doors for the home construction industry in Canada.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
