34 cities, towns and villages from coast to coast to coast in Canada held rallies this past weekend in support of women’s rights and other important causes. In Toronto, where the largest Canadian march was held, more than 60,000 women and their allies converged on Queen’s Park, the Ontario legislature as part of the worldwide movement.
The marches were held on 21 January, 2017 and millions of women across the world marched in support of women’s rights as well as immigration reform, health care reform, protection of the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, freedom of religion, and workers’ rights. The marches were aimed at Donald Trump, the recently-elected President of the United States
There were 673 marches worldwide, with approximately 4,876,700 people participating, as reported in www.womensmarch.com. IAM members participated in large numbers in this important movement.
