The IAM Union requests the Government NOT Intervene in Air Canada Negotiations

On August 14, 2025, the IAM Union sent a formal letter to Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, and Minister of Jobs and Families Patty Hajdu, to strongly condemn any government interference in the ongoing collective bargaining process for Air Canada flight attendants.

As Canada’s largest union representing Air Canada workers, the IAM Union emphasizes that negotiations must be free from political influence. Our members expect fair bargaining, protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, without legislative intervention that undermines their constitutional rights.

IAM Union stands in full solidarity with CUPE and all Air Canada flight attendants, advocating for a negotiation process conducted at the bargaining table.

We urge the government to respect workers’ rights and allow them to reach a fair and independent agreement.
