Owen Sound Gardens Workers Ratify First Collective Agreement

The 52 members at Owen Sound Gardens Retirement Residence have ratified their first collective agreement, marking a major milestone for the newest members of Hotel and Healthcare Local 1295.

The agreement includes several important gains for workers, including annual wage increases, sick days, uniform allowances, shift and lead hand premiums, access to the IAM Pension Plan, a signing bonus, and more.

The negotiations committee members Irma King and Tina Klerks did a great job sticking to the issues that were important to the members,” said IAM International Representative Derek Ferguson.

We organized this group just before Christmas and ratified a solid agreement in four months due to the resolve and determination of this group,” added IAM International Representative Scott Jackson.

The workers at Owen Sound Gardens provide essential nursing, housekeeping, and dietary services to residents in Owen Sound, Ontario.
