United Deal Brings Wage Parity for former Continental Workers!

Vancouver, B.C. – United Airlines Customer Service Agents in Vancouver and Calgary respectively, have ratified new two-year collective agreements. At the same time, former Continental Airlines Customer Service Agents in Calgary ratified a new two-year collective agreement that provides wage parity with their United Airlines counterparts. United and Continental Airlines merged in 2011.
The 75 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 764 in Vancouver and the 35 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2734 in Calgary each receive wage increases in the form of a lump sum payment of 2.5 per cent as well as a 5 per cent profit sharing for 7.5 per cent in March 2012. They also receive a 2 per cent lump sum payment plus profit sharing in February 2013.
The 18 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2734 formerly of Continental Airlines receive wage increases of 2.5 per cent retroactive to July 2011, and 2.5 percent in March 2012. In addition, they receive 5 per cent profit sharing in March 2012.They receive wage increases of 2.5 per cent in January 2013 and 2.5 per cent in April 2013. In addition, they will receive profit sharing in 2013.
“Obviously with a ratification majority it signifies that our members are happy with this agreement,” explained IAMAW District Lodge 140 General Chairperson Tania Canniff. “The merger brought us new members and we’ll have wage parity by the end of this agreement so everybody wins.”
