Machinists Ratify New Deal with Alliance-Engineering!

Victoria, BC – Machinist members employed by Alliance Engineering have ratified a new three-year collective agreement. The agreement provides wage increases of 2 per cent in each year. Wages in the first year will range from a probationary rate for Journeymen of $28.63 per hour to $30.92 per hour for Tool and Die makers. This afternoon the CAW representing Customer Service Agents at Air Canada, announced it has reached a tentative agreement with the airline, ending a brief work stoppage. Machinists Union members were thanked by CAW President Ken Lewenza for their unwavering support during this work stoppage. IAM members are getting ready to bargain with Air Canada very soon and the CAW has promised its full support.

Toronto, ON – If you have noticed a little more spring in the step of the Ambassadors at Pearson International Airport, it’s because they have become the newest members of the IAMAW. The 90 employees of Airport Operations Support Services, also known as Ambassadors, provide assistance to passengers when they enter Canada and US Customs at Pearson. “Over the past year the employer’s anti-union tactics and empty promises paved the
